For as long as I can remember, I have always appreciated well made objects – even when they are completely useless – if they’re well produced, I’m a fan!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smallrig<\/strong> is a Chinese setup in Shenzen, just next to Hong Kong but in mainland China. They have been producing camera accessories for a while now, and they are all exquisitely designed, and made from high quality machined alluminium. I have purchased a ‘grip’ for the Z series Nikon<\/strong> mirrorless, and various ‘L’ plates for other cameras, and the quality and pricing is excellent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This bracket lets me use the quick release ‘Arca<\/strong>‘ style mounts for horizontal or vertical camera mounting, that I use on all of my tripods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smallrig have just announced a new camera cage for the Z series – this will be useful for people who use the camera for video as there are mounts designed for holding external screens, microphones, handles etc. which simply bolt-on to the cage. It’s hard to believe this will retail at 45$.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the sort of things I do, the only thing missing is an Arca<\/strong> mount on the bottom and to the side – perhaps Smallrig have plates which can be added-on…? It seems obvious to me, using a tripod, but I can see that this is not always necessary for someone hand-holding the camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
