This fits under the current <strong>Z 6 <\/strong>with a slightly redesigned top plate, cropped 4K video, but strangely 2 memory card slots (SDXC) and at an estimated European price of 1500\u20ac &#8211; frankly I think they&rsquo;ve missed the boat with this one &#8211; the more advanced <strong>Z 6<\/strong> is available for only a few hundred euros more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"550\" height=\"436\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Z5-with-grip.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2228\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Z5-with-grip.png 550w, http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Z5-with-grip-300x238.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><figcaption>NIKON Z 5 with Z-GR1 grip and Z-VP1 vertical <em>bracket<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>More interesting to me, at least, is the fact that <strong>NIKON<\/strong> have also announced a grip and vertical bracket, much like the <strong>SMALLRIG<\/strong> and <strong>MEIKE<\/strong> grips that have been available for the last 18 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Z-GR1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2229\" width=\"400\" height=\"229\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Z-GR1.png 550w, http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Z-GR1-300x172.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><figcaption>NIKON Z-GR1 grip<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Z-VP1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2230\" width=\"164\" height=\"302\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Z-VP1.png 299w, http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Z-VP1-163x300.png 163w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 164px) 100vw, 164px\" \/><figcaption>NIKON Z-VP1 <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I have to say that I think they must start feeding the poor sod hidden away in a cupboard somewhere, who was tasked with coming up with these designs &#8211; nice try, but why not look at what else is out there first?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I mean, who needs to fold a bit out of the way to change the battery?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Nikon-Z-GR1-extension-grip-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2232\" width=\"470\" height=\"344\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Nikon-Z-GR1-extension-grip-4.jpg 914w, http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Nikon-Z-GR1-extension-grip-4-300x220.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Nikon-Z-GR1-extension-grip-4-768x564.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 470px) 100vw, 470px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NIKON<\/strong> recently announced the <strong>V50<\/strong> Video-logging kit with the Z-50 and various accessories &#8211; one being a <strong>SMALLRIG<\/strong> grip designed to hold a screen etc. <strong>SMALLRIG<\/strong> make some excellent accessories, why not use what they have designed, as is often the case, rather than create this &lsquo;thing&rsquo; ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sorry mate &#8211; back to the drawing board &#8211; oh and by the way, just a thought, will it fit the <strong>Z 6\/7<\/strong> ? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This seems unlikely as the grip on the <strong>Z 5<\/strong> is actually 2 millimeters deeper than the previous cameras&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UPDATE<\/strong> &#8211; it seems that people who can read Japanese have translated the <strong>NIKON<\/strong> Japan website page for this grip and it seems it will fit all the full-frame Z series camera bodies. The existing battery grip ( <strong>MB-N10<\/strong> ) will also fit the <strong>Z 5<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NIKON has just announced a new full-frame mirrorless camera, the Z 5.
