{"id":1235,"date":"2018-04-24T07:18:04","date_gmt":"2018-04-24T06:18:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/?p=1235"},"modified":"2018-04-24T08:48:05","modified_gmt":"2018-04-24T07:48:05","slug":"bye-bye-flickr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/2018\/04\/24\/bye-bye-flickr\/","title":{"rendered":"Bye bye flickr"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/flickr-logo.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1236 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/flickr-logo-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/flickr-logo-150x150.png 150w, http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/flickr-logo-100x100.png 100w, http:\/\/www.iangrandjean.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/flickr-logo.png 256w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s been fun (sometimes) but I think it&rsquo;s time to stop giving away my images for free, or worse, letting someone somewhere decide what they want to do with my work, and this without even letting me know&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Flickr<\/strong> started as a free, independent platform for file (image\/video) sharing a few years ago and seemed quite a good idea &#8211; a number of web-based photographic fora didn&rsquo;t allow uploading of images, so it was easier to use Flickr to stock the images and simply give a link to the image in a forum post.<\/p>\n<p>Flickr has two basic modes &#8211; &lsquo;free&rsquo;, with an unlimited number of uploads, but a limited file size, or &lsquo;pro&rsquo; where the file size is unlimited too, but costs $22\/year.
